They might as well be carnivorous monsters, because they inevitably wreak havoc on childrenРІР‚в„ўs lives. Still, the message of HughesРІР‚в„ў film is that all adults - Vernon included - are aliens. I, for one, would rather outwit a disgruntled teacher than a grotesque extraterrestrial. In some sense, DallasРІР‚в„ў mission is much more daunting than JohnРІР‚в„ўs. To that end, Captain Dallas also crawls through the air ducts, trying to eject the creature from the ship. Strangely, this moment is reminiscent of a scene from Ridley ScottРІР‚в„ўs 1979 thriller РІР‚СљAlien.РІР‚Сњ The protagonists of that film must defeat a horrifying creature, hell-bent on consuming their flesh.
